Maple Sage crushed sweet potatoes with Marshmallow butter-side dishes that everyone will be yammering about day (even intended)! This side dish is easily packed full of flavor, takes less than 30 minutes to prepare, does not need an oven, and can be made first! You're welcome 🙂
I am seriously a kind of meat and potato girl. Simple, thick taste is my thing. I think that has why I love holidays so much, because not only do I accept my contents of every kind of sweetness and treats imaginable, I have Turkey and ham to look forward to too.
Material
- 2-3 pounds of sweet potato
- ¼ for ⅓ cup half and half OR weight of whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons of fresh, chopped sage
- ¼ real maple syrup cups
- 3 tablespoons butter
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup of miniature marshmallows
- ¼ cup of butter
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice
- a pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions
- This recipe can easily double.
- Bring a large pot of salted generous boiling water.
- Sweet potatoes are peeled and cut into 3-4 inch pieces. Place in boiling water and cook until soft, about 20 minutes.
- Drain the sweet potatoes well and return to the pan.
- Smash half and half yams, sage, maple syrup, butter, salt and pepper.
- If you make it first, cool, cover and cool. Warm before serving.
- When ready to serve:
- Combine marshmallows, butter, pecans, orange juice and cayenne in a microwave safe container. High heat for 30 seconds, stir. Repeat until the butter has melted and the marshmallow has softened and is partially liquid.
- Serve with yam puree or pour over and serve together.
